NOVEMBER 2023

MONARCH:

Hi Prophets and Ladies,

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and your families. May your turkey be well done and tasty. “OH YUMMY”. I can taste that pumpkin pie right now.

Thanks again to CJ Dave3 Ingalls for directing the meeting. This injury I had had has kept me inactive for longer that I expected. I still haven't got my brace yet. So I will see how it plays out, these next couple of weeks. PM Dave seems to be lucky, to receive our visitors while I', away. Thanks to you all and PM Dave again.

Don't forget our November lunch/meeting third Thursday Nov. 16, 2023, at the Saegertown American Legion. Lunch at 12:00 PM, meeting at 1:00 PM.

“HAPPY TURKEYDAY”

Fraternally yours,

OCTOBER 2023

MONARCH:

Hi Prophets and Ladies,

Well, I am in the same position as I was last month. I still have my trusty boot. I hope to get fitted with a Arizona brace without spurs, (a little western joke). I have seen so many westerns, during my in house stay, that I am getting to be a champion spitter.

I was sorry to hear that one of our dedicated members the of the Grottoettes, passed on, Florence Dillaman. She was the wife of PM Max Dillaman, Florence. She was a Past President , Secretary and Treasurer of the Grottoettes. They both were good and true members of the Grotto and Grottoettes.

I heard we had a small turnout at out last canceled meeting, I hope we have a larger one this month.

JUNE 2023

MONARCH:

Hi Prophets and Ladies,

Sorry I didn't see you all at last months luncheon/meeting. I had a little minor surgery to remove some skin cancer, on my face. I probably gained another wrinkle. What the “Hell” is one more wrinkle at this stage of life. Remember to use your sun screen lotion this summer to possibly prevent skin cancer.

I thank CJ PM Dave for filling in foe me. Good job Dave

So far, it looks like we are going to have a hot dry summer. To keep cool and comfortable, come out and join us at our June luncheon/ meeting, on Thursday June 15th at the Saegertown American Legion. We have a lot of Fellowship going on.

Get well wishes to Linda Kerr and others of the Grotto Family. We miss your smiling faces at the luncheon/meetings.

Signed: ”Fire Cracker Bill”

FEBRUARY 2023

MONARCH:

Hi Prophets and Ladies,

Most newsletters start out with the weather news. Being this is Ground Hog Month, why change. The weather for the following week will be warm not freezing and cold. It will be a good time, for you all, to get to get the winter staleness blown off, so please join us at the Saegertown American Legion for our monthly luncheon and meeting at 1:00 PM, Thursday February 16th.

The Ground Hog predicted six more weeks of WINTER weather. I know we all would like an early spring. So far, we are enjoying a mild winter. less snow to move around.

The beautiful part of having our luncheon & meeting is we are able to have good fellowship with our prophets and ladies. Don't miss it. Bring your lady and join us.

Wish you all a healthy and warm winter

Fraternally yours,

Bill Latta

DECEMBER 2022

MONARCH:

Hi Prophets and Ladies,

Ho-Ho-Ho; He-He-He; Ha-Ha-Ha; its Christmas Time again; Merry Christmas to all and to all a healthy Happy New Year!
I hope all of you can celebrate the holiday season with your families. We have a new member to my family this year, Timothy Joseph Latta, TJ for short. I remember one Christmas (1944), I was eleven, my mothers brother, Melvin, was a few years older, first Christmas after my dad died. She bought Mel and I a bow and arrow set, that we found. At that time, the Army Air Force had an Army airplane show of the B-17 Bomber Plus, at the Allegheny County Airport. We took off with our news present to go and see the planes. Now remember the weather was like we are having now. We didn't walk on the roads, we cut cross country. We ran into a large pond and around the pond was all muddy. Our tenners were full of mud. In kicking the mud off toward the pond, one of Mel's tenners came off and went into the pond. Mel stripped down to his shorts and dove into the cold water to get get his shoe. He found it, and we continued on to the show. He had to be cold. Mel went, later on, when he was sixteen, and joined the Navy. He retired from the Navy That was quite a Christmas. My mother never knew we found our Christmas presents until after. As the crow flies, we walked approximately 5 miles plus that day.

Our luncheon meeting will be on the 15th, at 1:00 PM, at the American Legion, Saegertown, PA. Its free for Prophets and ladies. If you need a ride, call a member, or get a ride. Driver will also be free.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AN A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Bill Latta, Monarch
