OCTOBER 2017

MONARCH:

Dear Prophets and Ladies:

It's time to take action, here at the Grotto. We have at least three good topics to discuss and decide at this meeting.

  1. The storage shed, our one year lease was up for 2017, we had to renew for 3 months, to allow us time to sort and remove articles. Will need input as to what to keep and what to throw out.
  2. Officers for the upcoming year of 2018, we need new officers, we can use all the help we can muster to stay alive.  NEED HELP
  3. Dave and Jodie Ingalls have volunteered to make arrangements for the Grotto Christmas Dinner. Looking at a buffet with 3 entrees, 4 sides, dessert and beverages. It has been recommended the Grotto pick up part the cost. The cost has not been set as of yet.

I am glad to report that Max Pokorski DDGM has been accepted into Kismet Grotto as a dual member. Welcome Max

SEPTEMBER 2017

MONARCH:

Dear Prophets and Ladies:

Hope you and your families are having a great summer. It has been somewhat a busy one and sad one for me because of the deaths of Prophets John Hodges and PM Tom Huson. It has been a sorrowful year with passing of all the Prophets that have gone to meet their maker.

On the bright side, we did have a good picnic for all. It would have been perfect if we would have more able to attend and enjoy the good fellowship and reunion of old friendships.

The Supreme Council Session, I felt, was a good one. We had five Prophets and their ladies attend. The hospitality was great, along with the entertainment by “Johnny Counterfit”, at the Humanitarian Foundation Entertainment and awards presentations. This entertainer kept you in stitches for a solid two hours, loved it. I presented our check for $500.00 at that time.

During the session PM Dave Korb was elected Grand Captain of the Guard, beating out PM Bob Lorenz Jr. SCDD from Islam Grotto, even with our 100% backing of him, we tried.

Besides the election, two proposals were voted down. One was to change the color of the tassel for District Deputies to blue, the other was was to change the mourning colors to black with a white strip.

Future Supreme Council Sessions will be June 11 – 17, 2018, at Indianapolis, Ind., June 16 – 22, 2019, at Branson, Miss. and Louisville. Ky., 2020.

On July 6th, Madalyn, Nedra and I went to the storage shed to clean it out. The Grottoettes took all their records to sort out, the remainder was left, topic for our next meeting.

SEE YOU ALL AT THE NEXT MEETING, SEPTEMBER 21ST

NOTE: THINK OF A PROJECT THE GROTTO CAN GET INVOLVED IN

Meetings start at 7:00 PM.

Fraternally yours,
Bill Latta, Monarch

FEBRUARY 2017

MONARCH:

Dear Prophets and Ladies:

F0irst I give my thanks to Dave and Jodi, for leading our Grotto for the past two plus years. Without their leadership, We probably would have folded.

I give my thanks to the officers, who have stepped forward to make our grotto go another year into the future. We will strive to do our best to serve you, the members of Kismet Grotto.

As you all Know, the attendance and memberships have declined in most of the organizations, like churches and benevolent lodges ( Blue Lodges, Eagles, Elks and others)

The cause, I believe, is due to modern conveniences that cause a change in our life styles.

To change this movement, we all need an objective to work for. Think about it and bring your ideas to our next meeting

Also, we would like all our members, to join us for dinner, before the meeting (dutch treat) February 16th 2017. Order as you arrive, the waitresses will start taking orders at 5:30 PM. Bring your lady with you and enjoy a nite out.

DINNER CHOICES

GROTTOETTES:

Hi from the President!

Our September meeting was held at the American Legion, with a delicious dinner before the meeting. We had a decent attendance (but could always use more!) The main thing that was discussed was the status of the Grottoettes. Everyone there agreed that they don't want the group to break up, so volunteers agreed to take offices for this coming year. Yay! We are covered! More on that to follow.

This will be my last meeting in October, as we will be headed for Florida right after this month's meeting. We'll be thinking of y'all!

Cards were sent out to members who had bereavements or illnesses by Marge Brant. We thank Margie for all her diligence in this area. She also read selections for the Chaplain's message.

Please come out and join us if at all possible for the October meeting. Dinner starting at 5:30 and meeting at 7:30 pm. Third Thursday.

GROTTOETTES:

Hi from the Grottoettes!

September is fast coming upon us, and it will soon be time for Grotto and Grottoettes to resume our monthly meetings.

September 15 will be our monthly meeting, beginning at 6:00 with dinner at the American Legion Post in Saegertown. We have a great selection to choose from, and they do an excellent job of cooking and serving us.

Come out and enjoy the fellowship with dinner, and then follow up with a short business meeting at 7:30 p.m. If you can't make dinner, at least come in time for the meeting.

We hope everyone has had a good summer, and are ready to get back to some cooler temperatures in the Fall.

With the Crawford County fair over with, and school getting ready to start this next week, we will be in the middle of all the football games and Fall activities, that can be a lot of fun.

Come and join us, if you possibly can. We love to see all of you!
